Ok, I've been sticking to only announcing in the Trade channel and I have also been using the party search window, alternating locations every 15 minutes. I have also been using the party search window and have lowered my prices dramatically and I have not been able to make any money thus far. I don't want to spam in fears of being banned but what else can I do?

Here's a screen shot after trying to sell my wares for over an hour.

"clearing out, 500g per item!"
WTH are you selling? purple and blues...? because nobody's gonna be interested in those items.
imo, you'd get better results if you specifically state what exactly you're selling.

Mostly mods and people would whisper which ones but unless I had a perfect sundering or perfect 15^50, people didn't care. I even had a zealous mod that I've been selling for a week and no one wants it. What gives?

I had to sell my +30hp sword pommels for 15k the other day, and even then it took forever to find a buyer. Everyone is selling because Anerf demolished the economy with 'loot failing'. Eventually there will be no money left in the game, instead the development team will make sure everyone has the exact same amount of everything in order to instate communism within the realm of Guild Wars.

Why are they doing this, you ask? For the lulz. And because we should have seen it coming.

Where to begin...

First of all, you're in District 5. Most people that are interested in buying or selling go to District 1.

Second, trading with the Party Search, never seems to work.

And of course, people like to know what stuff you're selling. Also, if you're trying to sell mods, people don't seem to buy that stuff very often. The only reason I salvage mods nowadays is if I want to use it myself.

if they're not rare skin, max dmg, max mod, blue, sometime purple, sell them to the merchant. Nobody gonna want them. Fine something that people always want, +30hp mod, 20/20 sundering (ewwww), vamp 5/1, 15^50 etc for mods. The same go for weapons, shields etc.

and don't be afraid to use the Trade Chat Channel. Just don't be a spammer who gets the spam warning message every 10 seconds. Normally if you want to sale no max items...goto a lower lvl area....yaks bend...ascalon...sunspear camp...etc....sale em like you was for 500g or less....take into account the amount of time that you are trying to sale a 500g item for...could you go out and "farm" that same amount of money in the same amount of time...if so...then just merchant the item and go back out and play the game.

There's a merchanting guide in Community Works with some tips about selling. Only sell what you think people want, be precise and don't be afraid to barter.

Right now, deflation has caused over all wealth to drop so you have to be prepared to sell cheap or not sell at all.

If you're selling unspecified stuff for 500g, people will know it's merchant food and avoid it altogether. If it's not 20/20 godly sundercrap or +30 godly health on a rare skin, it's not easy to sell.

Unless you have a perfect and/or rare skinned item or mod, don't bother trying to sell it. It is literally more profitable to sell it all to a merchant and go back out to collect more items than it is to stand around all evening trying to sell stuff that people don't want.

I have god-awful luck with drops, and I'm not exaggerating when I say I haven't sold a weapon/mod to another player in months - yet I have no problem accumulating money. I go about my business exploring, doing missions, etc. and it adds up fast.

Also, guru auctions and sell forums and other such sites is a good way to hock your wears. I sell a lot more stuff that way then I ever would spamming IG.

I can vouch for that method. When I would go through Tyria for my cartographer title (I fight, not run), I would end up with a couple plat and a full pack of whites by the time I'm done. Also, if you have Nightfall, go get those treasure chests. You will usually get a gold or purple along with around 1 or 2 plat. While it's not at the rate you would get by farming intentionally, it's not a bad way of making money. Do quests too, the money rewards from those things can add up pretty nicely too.

if you're selling something, just don't say "selling stuff". be specific with what you're selling. most people are going to be too lazy to whisper you and find out if you have anything you need.

Getting to 100% Cantha and Elona (from about 50% each) netted me about 80K.
That's without the gold items, which I was id-ing with an other character for title and I sold those with that character if they were bad (about 95%).

To the OP: it's not clear what you are selling, you are also in the wrong district.
Make sure you have something that could be of some value to other players and sell that in Dis 1 of the 'trade cities'.
Standing not selling stuff while you could be killing and obtaining stuff is just stupid.
If your items are worth something, sell them seperate. Else just merch them and go out killing stuff.

If it's not perfect AND desirable, it's merch food. That's all there is to it. Unless you want to "pimp up" your heroes.

Frankly, that's not very much gold. One can easily get better with crappy NM farms. Of course title hunting isn;t about money so I generally consider that a "plus" - but it isn't good GPH.

For "normal" farming - that is merch food and trader items - the UW is still the best place. It's not hard to make that in a MUCH shorter time period that exploring/vanquishing areas. Heck even "plain" farming areas (the ones I mostly do unless I really have some strange need for gold) like Mist Vaeittir farming nets more than that.

This is the real issue there. There is both good and bad there. In the old days it was MUCH easier to find a perfect mod or crappy gold skin than now - in fact it was quite easy and the spam was annoying. However it was hard to afford the things unless you did one of the high end farms. Now it's much easier to get one for free (from a drop) but MUCH harder to find one for sale. And now, even if you find one, they aren't worth much since I can usually find one myself anyway.

If you are just a casual player then things like Hard Mode, perfect salvage kits, and the sheer number of easily attainable greens means it is easier than ever to get top end gear. In fact compared to other online games (let alone the standard MMO formula) it is trivial to get them.

However if you are a non-casual player you really do not have an easier time that the afore mentioned casual player of getting the item. That, well, kinda sucks. You put your time in and you aren't more powerful.

Eh, that's GW in a nutshell - it's not just with items. The game is centered around the casual player and, to a large extent, always has been (though more so now than before - however the last real change was loot scaling, a little late for a new complaint about it). It just as the game gets older and older and more and more people become "non-casual" in time played it becomes more obvious.

Basically as a consumer finding items easy to acquire and cheap is great, when you are the retailer instead of the consumer you find the situation to be the opposite (even though nothing outside of which side of the isle you are on has changed). To a large extent this holds true in real life too - people complain about what they pay for things they buy and then complain that people do not pay enough for their goods.

I can assure you from personal experience that this is too true. I spent a couple of summer's buying at selling Game Cartridges at a local flea market. When I told people how much I would give them for a game (usually $40), they would say "Oh my god! I paid $75 dollars for it!" Then, when they saw the equivalent game selling on my table for $45 they would say "Oh my god! That's too much for a used game!"
Somehow they expected me to give them $70 bucks for their lousy game and then sell it for $20. Sorry, it don't work that way!

lol, nah! I just gave up on selling 99% of my stuff to non-guildies and started running people through CoF like a mad dog. Never fell below 400k since then.
